Halo Of Flys: Bloodier shade of red

Halo of Flys might have problems with spelling but they’re not doing much better with their music. This is some strange and annoying “gothic horror” music. The biggest problem is in the mix. The fuzzy guitars are really low and the keyboards, samples and strings are all louder than the guitars. Having said that, the song writing isn’t all that great too. It’s all well and good trying to be atmospheric but it only works if the songs are any good. These songs are just all over the place and you often have fuzzy, noisy guitar riffs sitting in the background with random keyboards and string samples, sitting on top. The vocals are this highly stylized, hesitant moan and I kept thinking “open up and sing for fucks sake”! Overall, the songs have zero recall value and this is just plain bad. I wish I hadn’t interrupted fellow staffer Ironpants when he was claiming this. The first absolutely rubbish stub of 2013.

After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
